Hooza, we bring you version #2 of Faltered Heart Reviews. It’s much brighter now, duncha think? Sanosuke designed the core, but Megumi did most of the coding [and she changed a lot of things to make it look prettier] and then Sanosuke wordpressed it. [Man, SanosukexMegumi… how can we go wrong?]
Some things are still being played around with. If you see an error, please comment and tell me.
As a sidenote, I’d like to bring up the fact that some people have been calling the staff of Faltered Heart Reviews “hypocritcal” based on this layout. I’d like to make clear that if you’re going to call anyone hypocritical in their review, it should be me. I [Sanosuke] am the only one with the complete power to put anything I want on this site. [Though Misao and Tomoe could technically stop me…] The other staff members - with the exception of Misao and Tomoe - don’t have access to the site other than to post their own reviews. Thus, they have no control about what goes on with this site. So please, if you’re going to call them hypocritical, do so by comparing their review to their own sites, not to this site.

September 10th, 2006 at 12:57 pmI’m a bit undecided about the layout. Given my recent track record, I’m all over the place with colours and cordination and I love the unorthodox schemes. I see potential for a great layout, yet something doesn’t sit right with me.
It isn’t unified. The soft style of the header and footer are out of place. In conjunction with the choice of red and green (used loosely), nothing holds the layout together as a whole. The only thing that is keeping everything in check is the blue border. It’s like stuffing all the knick knacks in a box. I love the contrast of elements, but it isn’t transforming gracefully from one to another. The use of gray doesn’t help at all.
“Grounding” the footer and header by solidfying it (e.g. using the cut out filter in PS), and replacing the gray with blue might help, I think.

September 19th, 2006 at 6:56 pmIt’s like saying that people who cannot draw shouldn’t be allowed to give an opinion or a critique about somebody else’s art because they can’t do any better themselves, otherwise they’re being a hypocrite. I don’t think it’s very fair to say things like that about the review site; of course the reviewers aren’t going to be perfect web designers either, they’re just giving an honest opinion and critique that somebody else asked for, even if it is being hypocritical.
I like that the layout features Misao. Also, it’s nicely organized, but I think Veve makes some good points; it just doesn’t completely seem to fit together. Nonetheless, I do like it, especially since it is easy to navigate, which I always like about a site. The funny thing is, when I decided to look at the site today, I wondered if FH had changed its layout yet and it did. Very drastic change from the dark colors of the old layout.
