The splash page was unexpected. I didn’t expect to have the option of viewing the site in four other languages other than English, until I realize that the language links are not really part of the site (not created by you). They are simply babelfish translations. The thought is nice and all, but honestly, it is a stupid and useless guesture. I am assuming you are aiming for accessibility and professionalism, of which neither was achieved. And if I really want to access your site in Spanish, I can do so easily by myself with a simple click. (more…)

Animara looks like a site created by something who is relatively new to web designing. This being concluded by examining the layout. The layout is poorly made: bad quality, lack of originality, and bad mixture of colour scheme. The fact that this is a graphic site and a domain is hard to believe, and if you’re trying to scare away your visitors, I believe the mission has been accomplished. (more…)

Ooo… I simply love the layout. Though the layout seems to be quite simple and plain (I couldn’t see any manipulation other than the debateable background and site title), it is actually really cute. The colours and styles works absolutely wonderful together. It certainly suits the ‘beautiful students of Ouran High School’ theme, especially with the combination of sparkles and flower petals. The matching disclaimer/copyright piece at the bottom of the page is also very cute. (more…)

A well-organized page, interesting use of colors, well-written and informative opening welcome note, and beautiful icon previews in the updates. On a closer look, the coding looks organized as well. The layout is fairly easy on the eyes but somewhat bland and drab. On a first glance, nothing grabs my attention or makes me want to really stick around. If it weren’t for the fact that there are icon previews in your updates, I’m not sure I would have stayed to look around. Your layout tells me nothing of your graphic [or even color-utilizing] skills. (more…)

I did not expect the site to be under some sort of hiatus while a new layout is implemented. I certainly did not expect the site remain in hiatus status after nearly four months. But I wholeheartedly agree with the decision for a new layout as the current one is rather bland. Not just in style but also in colour. It does very little to attract visitors, not to mention the most recent entry on September 2 gives people the wrong impression that the site is closed until a new layout and new content are added. I had to do a re-take when the webpage fully loaded. The design is original and it is well designed, but there is too much going on. Too many colours, too many image collages, just too much, even the mouse rollover cursor and text colour. I certainly like the style and I am sure many visitors appreciate the layout, but personally, it is too ‘tacky’ for me. I do, however, enjoy how the quick links are artistically arranged at the top left corner. (more…)

As a yaoi fangirl, I’m intrigued by your site content-wise. As a web designer, however, I’m thinking you could do a lot to improve layout and aesthetics-wise. Then again, your site isn’t geared towards aesthetics but moreso text. But think of it this way: all a main layout is supposed to do is act as a flashing sign going, “look here!” As a first-time visitor, I’d have no idea what your site is about, because your layout is incredibly generic and doesn’t offer much of an insight as to what’s in store, and thus would be judging whether or not I want to stay purely on the layout I see. *Although you changed layouts in the middle of my review, I didn’t get very far so, mind you, I’m not going to say anything. To be frank, I am not at all anticipating this review. Seeing an ill made splash page makes me feel that you’re disorganized. With the addition of the clumped links at the bottom of the enter banner, the overall impression of what your site is giving now is that of a content overload site. Granted, however, that at the very least you used your splash page to inform your visitors that your site is best viewed in Internet Explorer and at a screen resolution of 1024×768 pixels rather than just for show without purpose.
