When I review websites, I try to be impartial, but if I have a track record of hating your guts, it affects the tone of the review. If I am tired, hungry, cranky, or any combination thereof, it will affect the tone of the review. In fact, I will sometimes affect the tone of the review for no reason at all.
I have current versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, and Mozilla Firefox, and I will check your site in all four. I’ll also check your site in 800×600 and 1024×768 resolutions. If you want to suck-up to me, make something (i.e. wallpaper) designed specifically for the 1152×864 resolution.
I don’t mind if your site has a lot of errors. It makes me feel better about myself, and then I don’t have to worry about the word count for the review. On the other hand, if your site is flawless, you will win my approval, and I will be twice as happy with you—but I the tone of the review may be irritated, since I won’t have anything to dump on you for.
On a side note, my operating system is Windows XP Professional, so if for some odd reason your website does not render correctly on a Mac, you can squeak by…
